Common QuestionsFAQ

Frequently Asked Questions.

How do I know if I need custom software or off-the-shelf?

If off-the-shelf tools fit your workflow, start there. If you are bending your processes to fit the tool, or if your needs span multiple systems that do not talk to each other, custom software is likely the better investment. I can help you evaluate this during a strategy call.

How long does custom software take to build?

Smaller internal tools can ship in 4–6 weeks. Full SaaS platforms or complex business systems typically take 8–16 weeks. Every project gets a clear timeline with milestones before we start.

What technologies do you use for software development?

I choose the right stack for the project, typically modern JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and cloud hosting. The tools serve the outcome, not the other way around.

Who owns the code after the project is done?

You do. All code, documentation, and assets are yours. There are no ongoing licence fees for the software itself. You only pay for optional maintenance and hosting if you choose them.

Can you build software that integrates with my existing systems?

Yes. I commonly integrate with Xero, Stripe, CRMs, email platforms, and legacy systems via REST APIs. If your current tools have an API, I can connect them.

What does ongoing support look like?

Most software clients choose a monthly retainer covering hosting, monitoring, bug fixes, security updates, and small enhancements. Larger feature work is scoped and quoted separately.
